Lila came to Edmonton’s Food Bank for the first time this year. After losing her job in September, she found herself struggling to make ends meet despite applying for work every day.
"I’ve worked since I was 14," she said. "I raised two kids and always had jobs and sometimes two at once."
When her cupboards were empty, Lila finally reached out for help. For weeks, she had been living on coffee, water, and chicken noodle soup.
Walking through our doors, she met with our team and left with a food hamper and a bit of relief.
Lila once volunteered with the Food Bank. She never imagined she’d need the same support. "Now I know what it’s like on the other side," she said. "And why the Food Bank is so important."
